Mind&Body Works has the working person in mind. My specialty has been to bring stress reduction, relaxation & meditation techniques to the workplace, resulting in increased focus, productivity. My Yoga at Your Desk© and Yoga in the Sky© workshops & yoga classes are presented in group format, fostering camaraderie between company departments. How long have you been in business?
Mind&BodyWorks has been in business since 1994.
What is your primary product or service?
My primary service is bringing relief from the effects of stress to your home or workplace. Services include stress reduction techniques to use at your desk or when travelling, and instruction in meditation and yoga, group or private lessons.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was teaching a yoga class in the mid-afternoon and noticed that all of the attendees were self-employed or homemakers. I decided to offer yoga classes to people who were working and could not take a break to take a class. I've lived in NYC since 1975 and have had working experience in the advertising, retail, publishing, and fashion industries. While working in those businesses, I often suffered from symptoms of stress-neck tension, backaches, headaches, eye strain, lack of energy, etc. as a result of sitting or standing for long periods, or overuse of certain muscles. I offer an antidote to these common maladies of the workplace.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I offer solutions based on the time-tested practices of yoga, including the yoga stretches that are familiar to many people nowadays. I have adapted some of the stretches to be able to be performed at your desk, or when traveling. In my workshops, I teach participants how to use meditation techniques to alleviate the symptoms of stress. Breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and to improve focus are included as well.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
For your convenience, I bring the services to you. Therefore, I do not have a central location.
What type of payments do you accept?
Payment is by check or cash.
Which areas do you service?
I serve corporate locations in Manhattan and parts of Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. I can also travel to parts of New Jersey, Westchester, and Connecticut. Private lessons are available in Manhattan only.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I am the sole owner.
What are your hours of operation?
My services are generally performed between the hours of 9am and 7pm.
